Meghan's Wish

Meghan has finally gotten her Wish from the Children's Wish and it is to be in a movie. The movie is currently called the Love Child with Donald Sutherland, Rebecca Romijn, & Rossif Sutherland. On Monday, April 13th we went to the Royal York where they put is in a suite for 2 nights and we had a fantastic night out the 5 of us with dinner, champagne, we played cards and walked around in our Royal York robes. Tuesday morning Sandy from the Children's Wish foundation came up to our suite around 9 am with a beautiful boutique of flowers for Meghan. At 9:30 Suzanne for Red Eye Media who worked with the Children's Wish to help organize Meghan's wish to be in a movie came with Greg who is a make-up artist and Sarah who is a stylist. They did her hair and make-up and than let her try on about 6 different outfits to choose which ones would be best for the shoot. We headed by limo at 12:40 to the Art Gallery in Hamilton where the movie was being shot. Josh drove out our van and we met him there. There wasn't much going on when we arrived other than the extras getting there hair and make-up done, so we sat in a big cafe like room with them , unfortunately the movie wasn't starting until about 3:30 and Josh had his hockey finals at 7 in Markham and they had just told us the day before that only one person was able to stay the whole day with Meghan so Joe & Jamie were going to have to leave with Josh and that was around 4pm. I didn't want to push it but I did ask if Jamie could stay and they said that was fine, which looking back, Joe could have actually stayed as well, we could have just taken turns going and watching her. ET Canada came around 4:30 to interview her and they did that most of the day, filming her behind the scenes and than with an interview with Meghan and also myself. They also did an interview with her and Rossif Sutherland and he was such a gentleman. Because he was so much taller than Meghan he stood in a lunge position throughout the whole interview :) She was in the filming almost the whole day until about 11:30pm and she got to see Rebecca Romijn blocking at 11:30 but didn't get to met her but she will have a chance to meet her and Donald Sutherland on Thurs. April 23rd when they've invited us back to meet the cast and watch them film. She did amazing and it was great to see her transform from this shy, nervous person to be very confident by the end of the day. We met the 2 producer and they were so thrilled that they were able to grant Meghan her wish, but we were the ones that were thrilled. We left the set about 12 midnight and headed back to the hotel where Joe was waiting up for us. We were all so exhausted but when we woke the next day it was hard to believe the experience we had had the day before. To top it all off on our last day my cousin Kelly gave birth to a baby boy named Kai so we went to visit him, it was the icing on the cake.

I'm so glad that I could share all this info with all of you.

April 8, 2009

It's been a long time since I posted. Meghan had her follow up at Sick Kids on Mon. Apr. 6th and everything went well. She goes back Mon. June 8th.

Meghan will finally get her wish from the Children's Wish on Monday, April 14th. She will be an extra in the movie called the Love Child with Donald Sutherland & Rebecca Romijn. They are putting us up at the Royal York on Monday, she will have her hair and make-up done around 10 a.m. on Tues. and than we will have a driver take us to the studio for filming from 1:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and than we will head back to the Royal York for another night there. She will be interviewed by ET Canada on Tues. at the studio and they will do a feature on her but we don't know when yet. Hopefully it won't be on the cutting room floor. We will get a copy of everything just in case it does. Since the big actors won't be filming on the 14th they want us to come back down on the 23rd or 24th so they can meet her and she can watch the filming.

We are so thrilled for Meghan to finally have her wish and we will keep you all posted on when the movie will be released and when she will be on ET Canada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sun. Feb. 15th

It's been two months since I last blogged and since Meghan just had an appt. on Mon. Feb. 9th at Sick Kids, I thought I better write. Things went well, there was no blood work required at that time but will probably do it next time we go, which is scheduled sometime in April along with a gynaecology appt. as well but on a different day of course.

About a month ago Meghan became a vegetarian. It was a decision that she has been thinking about for awhile. She was never a lover of red meat anyhow so now she has cut meat out all together. She is not a vegan, so she still eats dairy, cheese, eggs, etc. and has had lots of bean dishes and she's been experimenting with lots of different vegetarian dishes as well, which we have enjoyed also. She said to me one day that she was very happy with the choice she has made to become a vegetarian.

She is still holding down 2 jobs, feeling great and looking fantastic. She's doing well in school and is looking to volunteer at an animal shelter, as she is a HUGE animal lover.

Other than that not much else is going. So I will blog again in April :)

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2008

Well I'm sorry AGAIN for the delay in blogging. Meghan had her follow up ultrasound appt. on Monday, Dec. 15th and oncology appt. Meghan had been having some pain back on Dec. 4th and I phoned her oncology nurse and she recommended calling our family Dr. who was away until the the 8th. Meghan also had been feeling very tired and had a fever on the 5th so I kept a close eye on her until our appt. with our family Dr. on the 8th and he felt since her symptons had subsided and we were heading to Sick Kids on the 15th for an ultrasound that we should just wait until than. Her ultrasound came back clear and she had been fine that whole week that the fellow oncologist felt that it may have just been a flu or something like that. She is feeling fine but probably alittle busy as she has started a new job but hasn't quit No Frills yet as she's not sure if her new job is just seasonal or not, but she's happy for the extra money. She hasn't had lots of hours at both so that's been good because I told her if she was getting run down she'd have to quit one.

Anyhow she is well and we are thrilled and we are going to enjoy another wonderful Christmas with our family and friends.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all, health and happiness to everyone!

Oct. 21st

Meghan had her last one year off chemo appt. (YIPEE!) yesterday. She also had a gynaecology and rheumotology appointments as well. Everything went well for all three appointments. Gynaecology wants to have an ultrasound in 3 months and her oncologist wants one as well, so she will have one on Dec. 15th with her follow-up with oncology appt. She will have a follow-up with gynaecology in April (in 6 months from now).

Things are going great and we hope they stay that way! I will write again in Dec.!

Happy Halloween :)

Oct. 8th

Sorry for the delay in writing but our computer has been down and out.

Meghan went to the hospital for her check up on the 22nd of Sept. and things went well. On the 20th of Oct. is her last one year appt. and than we start going once every 2 months, so some time in December. Her Doctor wants and ultrasound done than. He is very happy with her progress. She is doing great in school, she's cut back on her hours at work to just weekends so she can concentrate on school work. She has joined the yearbook club and will be attending the environment club as she is into making the environment a better place for us all. I will write after her Oct. appt.

I am sorry to say we have lost another friend last week to cancer :*(

PS Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and be thankful for everyday you have with your family and friends :)

Thursday, Aug.28th

Everything went fine yesterday down at Sick Kids for her follow-up appt. and ultrasound. They could see the lump in her groin but it hasn't changed and it's nothing they are concerned about. Everything else is great. She has her next follow-up appt. on Sept. 22nd.

It is with great saddness that I tell you of the loss of an amazing 15 year old girl named Caitlyn Cobean, who was taken too early by brain cancer. She courageously fought this disease for a year and a half. We had met her twice and I've spoken to her mom by email on several occasions. She had amazing strength and courage and her family is constantly in our thoughts and prayers.

If there's one thing that I could say to you, it would be appreciate each day you have with your family and friends!
